Jay Lang Appointed New Station Manager At WHOV 88.1 FM Hampton University

Jay Lang is the new Station Manager at Hampton University's 88.1 WHOV in the Norfolk area. Lang will continue to do his fill-in work at Howard University's WHUR Washington, DC. You'll recall that Lang was one of the jocks on the old Smooth Jazz 105.9 WJZW, hosting "Lights Out Washington" before it got blown up by Citadel in February 2008.

Previously, Lang spent 6½ years at ABC Radio/Citadel's "Smooth Jazz 105.9" WJZW Woodbridge/Washington DC before that station dropped the format for Oldies. He's no stranger to Hampton Roads radio either. Lang was with Clear Channel Norfolk for 8 years from 1993 to 2001 and served as Program Director of WJCD (then Smooth Jazz CD105.3) before the major market move to Washington, DC to work for WJZW.

Lang said,"We're gutting and installing new digital on-air & production studios, upgarding to HD, ikncluding streaming on the worldwide web and planning some exciting programming changes which will change the complexion of radio in Hampton Roads. I'm extremely excited about the full support I'm getting from University President Dr. William Harvey & Dean Whitaker-Heck as this vision unfolds. As WHUR has developed over the years a major force in Washington, DC, soon WHOV will command that same presence in Hampton Roads". His appointment became effective this past September 25th, 2009.
